OATI Successfully Implements the WECC Interchange Tool
MINNEAPOLIS — February 27, 2007 — Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) is pleased to announce the successful implementation of Phase I of the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) Interchange Tool (WIT). The WIT is a regional scheduling system developed to meet the NERC Interchange Authority requirements for the entire WECC region. The first phase of the project delivered three key components: Enhanced E-Tag Validation, WECC Registry, and a common Scheduling Tool.

The project is an ambitious step forward in making schedules fully E-Tag based. The WIT will be the only source for all Interchange data in the West. The WIT users include 36 Balancing Authorities (BA), three Reliability Coordinators, and the WECC staff.

Additional phases of the project are scheduled for the next two years and include incorporating Net Scheduled Interchange Profiles directly into each BA’s local AGC calculations.
